Is there a version history for my generations?

Is there a version history for my generations?

Answer

Yes, but it works differently than a text document.

Rendair AI does not overwrite your files. Instead, every single generation, edit, or variation is saved as a completely new image in your gallery, creating a permanent visual history of your entire workflow.

Overview

In traditional CAD or modeling software, hitting "Save" often overwrites your previous progress unless you manually create a new file version.

Rendair AI takes a safer, non-destructive approach. Whether you are upscaling an image, painting out a window, or generating a new variation from a sketch, the platform treats the result as a new asset. Your original input is never modified or lost.

This means your "version history" is actually a complete timeline of every concept you have ever generated, stored indefinitely as long as you have an active subscription.

How it works

The system is designed to encourage rapid iteration without the fear of losing a "good" result.

  1. Generation: You create an image from a prompt or sketch. This is Version A.

  2. Modification: You use the "Select and Modify" tool to change a material on Version A.

  3. Result: The system generates Version B.

  • Version A remains in your gallery, untouched.

  • Version B appears as a new, separate image next to it.

  1. Comparison: You can open both images side-by-side to compare the changes or show them to a client.

What is included

Because every action creates a new file, your workspace naturally builds a comprehensive archive of your project.

  • Unlimited Storage: Active subscribers have no storage cap. You can keep thousands of iterations without worrying about space.

  • Non-Destructive Editing: Upscaling, inpainting, and outpainting never replace the original file.

  • Safe Experimentation: You can try risky or bold design changes knowing your safe "backup" is just one click away in the gallery.

  • Private Archives: For Pro and Team Pro users, this history is private by default, ensuring client confidentiality.

When to use this

Having a full history of generations is not just about backup; it is a presentation tool.

  • During client meetings: Clients often struggle to articulate what they want until they see it. You can scroll through your gallery to show the evolution of the design.

  • For design development: You can "branch" your design. Take one base render and generate five different material options. All five exist simultaneously, allowing you to pursue the best two directions without losing the others.

  • Marketing assets: Often, an "intermediate" version of a render is perfect for a social media "Behind the Scenes" post, even if it wasn't the final deliverable.

Limitations or notes

While the system saves everything, managing that history is up to you.

  • Organization is key: Since every click creates a file, your gallery can fill up quickly. It is helpful to delete obvious failures to keep your project folders clean.

  • No "Undo" button: Because files are not overwritten, there is no traditional "Undo" command (Ctrl+Z) for file management. You simply select the previous image from the gallery.
