3D model to AI render for a student urban project by Louise Blanche

Architecture student Louise Blanche turns a blank screenshot of her district model into a presentation render, refining facades, greenery and people with edits.

Louise Blanche is an architecture student with a deadline. Her urban planning project, a new residential district, is due for its final presentation in a week, and she has never made a proper render. Her old laptop could not run the desktop rendering software from her first-year class, so she had mostly skipped visuals. In this video she tries Rendair for real on that project, starting from a plain screenshot of an untextured 3D model. It is worth watching if you are a student who needs one convincing image fast and has no rendering background.

What you'll see

  1. She takes a screenshot of her massing model, which has no materials or detail, and uploads it.
  2. She browses the preset styles (realistic, artistic, collage, watercolor), then builds her own style from a reference image she found online.
  3. In the app then called 3D base to render, she adds a short description, pushes structure strength to the maximum and lowers creativity so the AI renders her design rather than inventing a new one. She asks for two options.
  4. She opens the result in the editor, selects one facade and asks for larger windows, a set number of stories and brick, the local material her studio chose.
  5. She repeats the edit on the second facade, then selects the street and asks for grass and planting, refining it until it reads as real lawn.
  6. She selects an area and asks for a place for children. The edit adds two kids, which was not her plan, but she likes how it brings the street to life.
  7. She upscales and enhances the final image, then exports it for her presentation boards.

Takeaways

  • She found the first render is rarely what you want. The result comes from editing the same image again and again, one area at a time.
  • She recommends keeping structure strength high when you want your own project rendered, not reinterpreted.
  • She points out that being specific about stories and materials matters, because tutors will question scale and window sizes.
  • She notes the work runs online, so even her slow laptop could produce a render, just with some waiting.
  • She is open that this was her first real rendering attempt, and that you have to play with prompts to get there.

Try it yourself

Start with 3D Model to Render on a screenshot of your massing model, refine facades and landscape with Select and Modify, then finish with Upscale.
