Change time of day on an interior render with AI by Studio Baroli

Studio Baroli takes a finished kitchen and living room render through night, morning, sunset and afternoon with Change Time of Day, and reviews the lighting.

Studio Baroli is an architecture and interior design channel. The problem here is familiar to anyone who renders: getting lighting right takes effort, and once it works, nobody wants to rebuild the setup just to test another hour. In this short tutorial she takes one finished interior render, an open kitchen and living area, through four times of day. She reviews each result with a designer's eye for where light fixtures belong.

What you'll see

  1. She signs up, opens the apps section and picks Change Time of Day.
  2. She uploads her daytime render and chooses night from the time options, sets how many images she wants and generates.
  3. She uses the compare slider to see exactly what changed between the original and the night version.
  4. She walks through the night result: pendants and kitchen spots switched on, light under the upper cabinets over the worktop, a lit range hood, a glowing glass-front cabinet, LED strips behind shelves and a spot on the planting.
  5. She runs a morning version of a render that was already daytime, and finds the light shifts from cold white to a warmer, more residential tone.
  6. She generates a sunset version, where artificial light dominates and sun shadows are softer.
  7. She finishes with afternoon and compares it with morning: the sky changes most, and light and shadow are more contrasted.

Takeaways

  • She explains that at concept stage the lighting design is not defined yet, so the AI's added fixtures are a suggestion, not a mistake. She sees that as useful for exploring options.
  • She was impressed that the night version lit the fixtures she had modeled and added sensible support lighting where a designer would expect it.
  • She preferred the warmer morning light, since cold white light reads as office or clinic rather than home.
  • She noted the sunset result showed little sun influence, with the scene relying mostly on interior lights.
  • She says the feature quickly became part of her workflow because it reuses a render you already have.

Try it yourself

Upload a finished render to Change Time of Day and use the compare slider to review each version. Pair it with Change Weather or Change Season if you want more moods from the same image.
