Interior design AI rendering from SketchUp and prompts by Mia
Mia, an interior designer, renders a hotel room from a prompt and a SketchUp penthouse model, then compares the settings-based apps with Chat.
Mia is an interior designer who shares tools she uses in practice on her channel. She says she has started using Rendair in her day-to-day work to present ideas to clients. In this video she gives a tour of the platform and then works on two interior briefs: a hotel bedroom inspired by a Mediterranean-style reference, and a penthouse living room she modeled in SketchUp. It is a useful watch if you are an interior designer wondering how the settings affect your results.
What you'll see
- A tour of the platform: the community gallery for inspiration, video tutorials, the create, edit, upscale and video sections, and Chat.
- Text to Render with a realistic style. She writes a description of her reference image with help from a separate chatbot, keeps creativity in the middle, and picks a horizontal 3:2 format.
- Select and Modify with a lasso selection to change the bed's headboard to a rattan design, at lower creativity.
- A short explanation of Elevation to Render and Sketch to Render, including how image strength and creativity change the result.
- 3D Model to Render on a sparse SketchUp view of a penthouse. She sets color and shape strength fairly low to avoid a SketchUp look, writes a plain scene description, and raises creativity high for better lighting and realism.
- Image to Video from that render, with a simple forward walk prompt.
- Chat, where she uploads the same SketchUp view and asks for an accurate night version with the lights on.
Takeaways
- She found the materials and finishes in the foreground stayed close to her model, from the marble counter to the lounge chair.
- She recommends selecting a slightly larger area than the object you want to change, because the AI reads it better.
- Depth was a weak spot. Objects deep in the room got blurry, and the video lost quality as it moved further back. She suggests working with closer shots.
- She preferred Chat for her penthouse test. It needed no parameter tuning and gave her a moodier image that kept the background details, while the create apps took more trial and error.
Try it yourself
Upload a SketchUp view to 3D Model to Render, or drop it into Chat and describe the lighting you want. Use Select and Modify to swap individual furniture pieces or finishes.
