When to pick it
Pixel Art translates architecture into retro low-resolution pixels, like a scene from an early video game. Shapes are built from small square blocks, colors are limited, and outlines step in clear stairs. The result is nostalgic and playful, and it makes even a serious building feel friendly and a little bit fun.
When to use it
- social posts and announcements where a playful image stands out in a feed
- projects for gaming studios, tech offices or entertainment venues
- event posters, invitations and studio merchandise
- kids' spaces, play areas and education projects
- a light-hearted series showing the office's portfolio in one consistent look
It is a communication style, not a design tool, so use it when attention and tone matter more than accuracy. A pixel version of a well-known project can also make a memorable thumbnail for a talk or a newsletter.
What it does to materials and light
Materials become flat color swatches with occasional dithering to suggest texture. A brick facade might be two reds in a checker pattern, glass a pair of blues with a single pixel highlight, grass a mix of greens. Light is shown with stepped tones rather than smooth gradients, and shadows are usually a darker version of the base color. Fine details either disappear or snap to the grid.
Tips for better results
- Pick buildings with clear, recognizable silhouettes; small ornament will not survive.
- Front views and simple three-quarter views read better than steep perspectives.
- Keep prompts simple and name a mood, such as sunny afternoon or night with lit windows.
- Reduce clutter in the input; trees, cars and people all compete for the same few pixels.
- Generate a few results, since small changes can shift the overall palette.
Pixel Art works in Text to Render, Sketch to Render and 3D Model to Render. For a much coarser grid, see Pixelate.
Use it in these apps
Pick Pixel Art from the style menu before you run.

- Elevation to RenderTurn a 2D elevation drawing into a photorealistic facade render, and try materials, context and light before you present.

- 3D Model to RenderTurn a view of your 3D model from SketchUp, Rhino, Revit or Blender into a photorealistic render, ready for client review.
