Rendair AI rendering tutorial, tool by tool by Sketch Design Craft
A tool-by-tool walkthrough of Rendair, from text and sketch rendering to edits, upscaling and video, with honest notes on each result.
Sketch Design Craft makes videos about AI tools for architects and designers. In this one, she opens a Rendair account and works through nearly every tool on the platform, using prompts, elevations of her own 3D sketches, hand drawings and model views. It is a good watch if you want to see what each tool does before trying it yourself, and where the results still need a second pass.
What you'll see
- A quick tour of the dashboard and its sections for learning, creating, editing, upscaling and video.
- Text to Render with a realistic style, four generations at a time, and prompts ranging from a contemporary house in wood and stone to a luxury villa. She also shows the keyword helper for view direction, space type, style, materials, weather and lighting.
- The same prompts in an artistic sketch style, for a more illustrative look.
- Elevation to Render using elevation views of her own 3D sketches, first with a short prompt and then with an added forest and lake setting.
- Sketch to Render on an exterior sketch and an interior sketch.
- 3D Model to Render from a model view of a residential building, using only keywords for the prompt.
- Select and Modify to replace the sky, swap a tree for a palm tree and add a father and son to the garden.
- Remove Objects to take a tree out of a render.
- An object insertion tool (today's equivalent sits within the edit apps) to place a cut-out person and a planter into a scene with matching shadows.
- Drawing an extra floor directly on a render, a sketch-in-context step that maps to today's Annotate Image.
- Upscale to 4K, followed by Image to Video on two renders.
Takeaways
- She was surprised by the quality of textures and materials from short prompts, and found the elevation results stayed close to her original drawings.
- She leans on the keyword helper whenever she runs out of prompt ideas.
- Not every output was clean: one interior sketch render came out confused, and a child's face in an added figure looked wrong. She suggests adding keywords, a reference image and adjusting image strength and creativity to get better options.
- She notes the upscale takes several minutes, but liked the detail it added.
- Her main point is speed for showing alternatives: different materials and colors for a client in far less time than her old rendering process.
Try it yourself
Start with Sketch to Render or 3D Model to Render for your base image, refine it with Select and Modify, then finish with Upscale.
Recorded with an earlier version of Rendair, so some screens and app names look different today.
