1/ Visual input matters more than geometry
Most users coming from traditional rendering software expect to upload a scene file. In the Rendair AI workflow, the process is simplified to focus on visual intent rather than geometric calculations.
The system analyzes the lines, composition, and massing visible in a 2D image to generate the final output. This means you do not need to package textures, lighting data, or complex geometry. You simply position your view in your 3D software (SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, or Blender) and capture that specific angle.

This approach removes the friction of file conversion and export errors. If you can see it on your screen, the platform can render it.
2/ Supported file formats
When preparing your base input for rendering, you should save your view in standard image formats.
Supported 2D formats:
JPG / JPEG
PNG
WEBP
TIFF
HEIC / AVIF
Single-page PDF (converting to JPG is recommended if the PDF is not editable)
File constraints:
Maximum file size is 16MB.
Aspect ratios are inherited from the uploaded image.
3/ When to use 3D files
While the main rendering engine relies on screenshots, Rendair AI includes specific tools for editing and object manipulation that utilize native 3D data. These are typically used when you need to insert a specific furniture piece or element into an existing scene.
Supported 3D formats for insertion/modification tools:
OBJ
FBX
STL
STEP / IGES
IFC
3DS
File constraints:
Maximum file size is 300MB.
These files are used strictly for specific Insert & Modify and 3D Base to Render workflows and not as the base for the primary Text to Render or Image to Render generation.
4/ Optimizing your screenshots
To get the best results from a 2D screenshot, the way you capture the model matters. The AI relies on the visual information present in the upload.
Textured screenshots: Use these when you want the AI to strictly follow your material choices (e.g., specific brick colors or wood tones).
Clay or White mode: Use these when you want the AI to handle all material decisions based on your text prompt.
Line drawings/PDFs: These provide the highest level of creative freedom for the AI but may require more detailed prompting to define the style.
