Animate architectural renders with Image to Video

Turn a still render into a short video by setting start and end frames and describing camera movement in your prompt.

A finished render can still feel static. Image to Video turns it into a moving scene. The camera movement you describe has a big impact on how the architecture comes across, so it helps to know a few basic terms.

Camera movements to know

  • Dolly in / dolly out: the camera physically moves closer to or away from the building, to approach an entrance or reveal the surroundings.
  • Zoom: the lens moves closer or further away while the camera stays put, useful for drawing attention to a detail.
  • Pan: the camera rotates horizontally, for example to follow a long facade.
  • Tilt: the camera looks up or down, for example from the entrance up to the upper levels.
  • Orbit: the camera moves around the building to show it from several angles.
  • Drone or aerial shot: the camera rises above, pulls back or moves across the site to reveal the context.
  • Walkthrough: a human-height camera moving through interiors, courtyards or entrances.

Steps

  1. Add your render as the Start Frame. This defines where the video begins.
  2. Add an End Frame (optional). This defines where the video finishes, and Rendair creates the movement between the two. For example, start with a daytime view and end with a night view for a day-to-night transition.
  3. Describe the movement. Say where the camera goes, how it moves, what it reveals and what happens in the scene. For example: "slow aerial camera rising and pulling backwards, gradually revealing the city and the surroundings."
  4. Open Advanced Settings and choose the video model, a 5 or 10 second length and the number of generations.
  5. Generate and compare. If the movement is too fast or too dramatic, adjust the wording and try again.

Tips

  • Go beyond "animate this image." Specific camera directions give more controlled results.
  • To combine several movements into a longer video, import the clips into your preferred video editor.
  • Mention movement in the environment too, such as trees or people moving through the space.

What to do next

Upscale your render with Upscale and Enhance before animating it, so the video starts from your best image.
