Answer
Short answer:
Yes, you can add context such as landscapes, cityscapes, or neighboring buildings. You can achieve this by describing the surroundings in your text prompt during initial generation, or by using the editing tools to select the background area and generate new environmental elements.
How it works
There are three primary ways to add context to your design in Rendair AI, depending on your starting point.
1. Using Text Prompts (Generation)
When generating a new image from scratch or from a sketch, include the environment in your description. Instead of just prompting "modern concrete villa," prompt "modern concrete villa situated in a dense pine forest with fog" or "modern concrete villa on a busy urban street corner." The AI generates the building and the surroundings simultaneously.
2. Using Editing Tools (Select & Modify or Chat)
If you already have a rendered image but the background is empty or incorrect, use the Edit feature.
Upload your image to the editor.
Use the Brush or Lasso tool to mask (select) the sky or empty background area.
Enter a prompt describing what you want to see in that space (e.g., "Parisian street background" or "sunset over mountains").
The AI fills the selected area while blending it naturally with your existing building.
3. Using 3D Massing (Base Input)
For the most control over scale and perspective, include simple massing models of the surrounding buildings in your 3D viewport before taking a screenshot.
Place simple grey boxes in your 3D model to represent neighbors.
Upload this screenshot as a Base Image.
In your prompt, describe the neighbors (e.g., "brick apartment buildings in the background").
Rendair AI converts the grey boxes into realistic buildings that match the lighting and perspective of your design.
Ways to add context
Rendair AI supports various methods to ensure your design sits correctly in its environment.
Environmental Context: Add natural elements like forests, deserts, oceans, or gardens to ground the architecture.
Urban Context: Generate neighboring structures, roads, sidewalks, and city skylines to show how the building fits into a streetscape.
Atmospheric Context: Change the mood by modifying the weather (rain, snow, fog) or time of day (golden hour, night), which naturally alters the background appearance.
People and Vegetation: Add scale figures and landscaping to empty areas to make the scene look lived-in.
When to use this
Site Integration: When you need to show a client how a proposed design relates to the street or nature.
Massing Studies: When you have rough block models of a neighborhood and need to visualize the density quickly.
Marketing Visuals: When you need to create an emotional connection by placing a property in a desirable location (e.g., beachside or city center).
Limitations or notes
Geographic Accuracy: The AI generates plausible context, not geographically accurate data. If you prompt "New York skyline," it will look like New York, but it will not be a precise map of a specific street corner unless you provide the massing for it.
Detail Consistency: If you use the editing tool to add a background, ensure your prompt matches the lighting of the main building. If your building is lit by noon sun, do not prompt for a "sunset background," as the shadows will conflict.
Resolution: Background elements generated via edit inherit the resolution of the working file. For sharp details in distant backgrounds, you may need to use the Upscale tool after generating the context.
