Explore different materials in your renders
Swap facade and surface finishes on an existing render while keeping the architecture and composition the same.
Melisa RüzgarTutorial VideosOnce the overall design is where you want it, the next question is often how a different material would change its character. Maybe the stone feels too heavy or the timber is not quite right. Change Material lets you compare finishes without redesigning the building.
Steps
- Open Change Material and bring in the render you want to experiment with. Use something you just generated or go back to an earlier version from your session history.
- Describe the material direction. Ask for something general, like clay brick or natural stone, or something very specific, like a blue Anatolian tile or a soft plush facade.
- Add a reference image if you have one. If you found a material you like online, drop it in and Rendair will incorporate it into your design.
- Generate a few options and compare them. The architecture, composition and overall image stay consistent while the finishes change.
- Push the best one further. If a version is close, use it as your new starting point. Adjust the color, texture or reflectivity, or combine different materials.
- Continue your workflow. Take the result into another app to change the lighting, add people or make final edits.
Tips
- Change Material is most useful in the comparison stage of a project, when you want to test options before settling on one.
- Keep the rest of the prompt focused on the material so the design does not drift.
- Generate several versions side by side to see how much impact the material has on the final image.
