Edit specific areas of a render with Edit Canvas
Sketch, mask or add shapes on a render to change only the areas you choose, then use Copy Input to keep iterating.
Melisa RüzgarTutorial VideosEdit Canvas gives you precise control over your renders. You edit only the areas you want and keep the rest of the image unchanged, which is ideal when you already like most of a render and just want to adjust a few things.
Steps
- Open Edit Canvas and upload or select the render you want to refine.
- Mark your changes. Sketch directly on the image, paint masks over areas you want to change, or add new shapes to guide the AI. Think of it as giving visual instructions, not only text.
- Describe what should happen. Write a prompt that explains your intention, for example extending the building, redesigning the facade, adding landscaping or removing something that does not belong. The clearer the prompt, the better the result.
- Choose your AI model and click Generate. You get a new version where only the selected areas have changed.
- Keep refining with Copy Input. Click Copy Input to restore the exact canvas from the previous generation, including your sketches, masks and painted areas. Adjust a sketch, paint over another area or try a different prompt, then generate again.
- Polish with other apps. Once the design is right, change materials, add people, try different times of day or upscale the final image.
Tips
- Use Edit Canvas when you want to improve an image rather than replace it.
- Mask only the area you want to change, so everything else stays exactly as it is.
- Copy Input saves you from redrawing everything between iterations.
- Compare several generations before moving on to the next app.
What to do next
Try Annotate Image when you need to point out several separate changes at once, or Extend Image if the framing feels too tight.
